Congratulations Class of 2011

As June comes to a rather quick end, I can’t help but think about all the celebrations that are traditionally recognized this time of year.  Highschool graduation is one of the most highlighted and timeless moments we know.  I really wanted to take a moment to say congratulations to some of the amazing young adults that came through our studio this year for their senior portraits.  Not good luck, but WOW!  They were inspiring and I mean that in so many ways.  I found myself in awe hearing about their dreams and plans and the goals they are already on their way to achieve.   So, stop and enjoy these beautiful faces and wish them the best on their new adventures.

Giving from the Heart

Yes, we are officially into the “Giving Season”.  And yes, we know there are so many opportunities and options for giving back to the community including food drives, coat drives and toys drives.  We are always eager to help where ever we can.  But this year, we really wanted to take it a step further and include our studio family in supporting local families that are only asking for basic needs.  We are loving the fact that other kids besides our own boys are participating and learning about how big a family can truly be when they open their hearts.

Here are some of the items we would still like to add to our collection for our Adopt a Family for the Holidays.  The last day to drop your items off at the studio is Sunday, December 12th.  Please remember, the items can be very simple.  A sweater, a package of socks, a pair of sweats, etc.  We are not asking for large items or expensive clothing.  Just warmth.

Warm Clothes for a little boy age one (size 18 months), little girl age five (size 4t), little girl age one (size 2t).

Diapers and wipes sizes 4 and 5

Family Gift Cards for K-Mart, Ross and Pack & Save.  The cards can be simple amounts of $10, $15, etc.

Feel free to send us a personal email or call the studio directly and let us know how you can help out these two families.  Thank you for all the support we have been receiving already.  This has been an amazing experience already.  A little goes a LONG way if we all contribute.  And who doesn’t love to shop for little kids’ clothes?

Thank you for all the giving and support this holiday season.  We have the best studio family and friends around.

It’s Santa Paws Time Again

One week away!  Santa will be here to take pictures with you and your family.  And we mean fur family members too!

We can’t believe we are in our 5th year already supporting this incredible organization call AAARF.    The event this year is going to be bigger and better than ever including a bake sale, raffle, crafts and a variety of vendors supporting your pets and family.

Your family picture with Santa is $12 and includes a 5×7.  All proceeds go to AAARF to support their endless animal rescue efforts.  Their facility is amazing and the volunteers supporting this organization are even more incredible.  Every time we visit their facility, we are always blown away by how clean and inviting the surroundings are.   It is a true haven for these animals.

We have even added an additional hour since the support for this benefit continues to grow every year.  We look forward to seeing everyone next Sunday, November 14th from 10am to 3pm.

Families Helping Families

It’s Official!

Ford Family Photography and our amazing family of studio customers will be adopting two local families for the holidays.  All the official details are coming in as we speak.  But to start, here are some of the basic details for all of you “planners” that want to get a head start.

Family Blue (for two little boys, of course) have a 2-year-old boy and 1-year-old boy.  The primary request is for warm clothes and diapers.

Family Pink (girl power here) have a 5-year-old girl and a 1-year-old girl.  The primary request again is for warm clothes and diapers.

We will have tags for everyone to select specific items for toys, sizes, colors, etc.  Please feel free to contact us at the studio directly if you would like to start donating now.  Many of you will be coming through the studio for family sessions in the next couple of weeks and can select your tags then.  We will have tags for the Mom’s of the children as well.  We find that food gift cards are usually the necessity and most desirable.

Thank you for all the amazing support on this new adventure.  We have already been receiving so many calls and offers to help out these two families for the holidays.

Congratulations!!!

Today is a very big day for some special studio members.  It is graduation at Placer High School and we couldn’t be more excited for them.

Meet Megan, Bailey, Mitchell, Aaron, and Kelsey with the gradating class of 2010.

These are very remarkable young adults, and they are going to be truly successful in their lives.  We had a blast hanging out and working with them this last year and hope to see them around.

Enjoy the experience.  We are excited and thrilled for all of you!

Rocket Fans

As you might have noticed, our blog entries have been a little slow this past week or so.  I can provide a really great reason…

So there Barry and I are, minding our own business while on the 2010 Buckeye Cruise for Cancer,  all we really wanted was to enjoy the warm sun and a great book (I only got the book on this trip) and what happens to us… ?  We bump into another group of people and made some new BFF’s.  But really, can anyone imagine Barry not talking to strangers  on a cruise ship with around 2000 people, when he wasn’t eating himself sick with the unlimited food 24/7?

Meet Jessy, Jonathan, Brandon, and Kasey.

Ok, ok, what is so special about meeting these hip young individuals you ask?  Well, Jonathan and Brandon just signed a major recording contract with The Vallory Music Co which is part of Big Machine Records (Taylor Swift‘s Label). Check out JB Rocket! and listen for their first single/album release later this summer.  You might have seen them as the runner’s up on  CMT ‘s “Can You Duet?”  These incredibly talented young guys happened to be part of the entertainment on our sweet little four-day cruise.  Jessy and Kasey are the amazing ladies with style and class keeping it all running smoothly for their guys.

We were spoiled with a show on the ship as well as the ever popular “Sloppy Joe’s” in Key West.  It was a blast and JB Rocket had the packed place rocking!

But, as you know Barry,  he had to find a way to join in the fun with his new guy pals.  So, he talked the boys into allowing the duo to temporarily being a trio on a little song called “Beat It” on the ship’s  Karaoke Night.  I have never been to karaoke but couldn’t stop laughing at the boys (my husband especially) getting in there and entertaining the ships nite club crowd.  In my mind, I could imagine our sons telling, pleading, yelling to their dad to “Stop Singing, DAD!”

Hopefully, JB Rocket will remember the little people when they make it to the BIG TIME, and now knowing them, they will.  Everyone really needs to go check these guys out. True Talent.  And of course, one last shot of Barry with the gang.  No surprise that you don’t see me in any shots:  I don’t really show up on film or anything that creates imagery… I wonder if that has anything to do with my latest book about vampires?  Hmmm….

We were honored to be apart of the amazing benefit that supported the Stephanie Spielman fund for Breast Cancer Research.  So many wonderful people took part on this cruise for a very important cause.  How lucky were we to come home with some great memories and new friendships as well?

Has Christmas gone to the {Dogs}?

One of our favorite benefit drives of the year is coming up in a couple short weeks.   AAARF will be holding their 7th Annual Santa Paws – Pet and People Photo Event.   We have been honored to be the photographers for this event the last four years as it continues to grow and expand into an Auburn Community highlight for the season.

AAARF is the Auburn Area Animal Rescue Foundation and they are an incredible team of individuals that donate their time and efforts to save and find homes for so many dogs and cats.   AAARF is also celebrating their 12th anniversary of service in the greater Auburn Area.

The Santa Paws event is truly wonderful.  Barry and I have so much fun with all the different pets and families that come for their pictures taken with Santa.  And I mean different pets.  Besides dogs and cats, we have had turtles and rabbits too.   This is truly a wonderful opportunity to have a family photo taken and support a great cause.

Our Santa,  Jack Kenny, is incredible with the animals.   He is a local Auburn resident and very special to all of us.   Jack was one of the Auburn residents that lost their home in the Auburn Wild Fire just a short while ago.   Even with all of his losses, he continues to be an incredible giver and supporter to local benefits.   Our hearts go out to him as well as a huge thank you.   This pet photo event wouldn’t be the same without him.

So, how can you pass up this Family Photo Opportunity?   For $12, you are supporting a great cause and receive a FREE 5×7.    I definitely know how important our fur family members are to us.  I can easily say that 3 out of 4 of our family sessions now include a dog or two as family members.   (That reminds me to add more fun shots on our gallery page on the website.  Look for pet ideas soon.)

Come and check out this event on Sunday, November 14th from 11am to 3:30pm at the Rite Aid Garden Center on Bell Road in Auburn.  Rain or Shine, we will be there with our toys and noise makers.  Besides the photo event, there will also be a great opportunity to meet other local pet suppliers for food, treats, microchipping and even a raffle.   Be sure you plan your outfits to make this a perfect Holiday Picture.  We can help you design and order Holiday Greeting cards as well.

One last note, this is also a  great time of year to  donate any extra supplies such as blankets, newspapers, toys, food ,etc. to this wonderful organization.  AAARF is so appreciative of anything we can offer to help their efforts.    Thank you for all your support and donations.

See you and your family on the 14th!
