Double Congratulations!

You may remember Suzanne and Dustin as our Style Me Pretty couple with their stunning wedding at the Monte Verde Inn.

Well, this wonderful couple just celebrated their two-year anniversary.  But the big story is that they actually have a little something, something else to celebrate very soon.

This little something is actually a pretty big deal.  Suzanne and Dustin spoiled us, yet again, for a little quick photo session as they wind down to the final days of becoming parents .

A huge congratulations to these new parents.  We can not wait to meet the new little man of their house very soon.  It is always so enjoyable to see you both.

Congratulations Class of 2011

As June comes to a rather quick end, I can’t help but think about all the celebrations that are traditionally recognized this time of year.  Highschool graduation is one of the most highlighted and timeless moments we know.  I really wanted to take a moment to say congratulations to some of the amazing young adults that came through our studio this year for their senior portraits.  Not good luck, but WOW!  They were inspiring and I mean that in so many ways.  I found myself in awe hearing about their dreams and plans and the goals they are already on their way to achieve.   So, stop and enjoy these beautiful faces and wish them the best on their new adventures.

Just Stop and Smile

With all the crazy rain and unpredictable weather and wedding season in kicking into full gear, I couldn’t resist posting a couple of images that just made me smile every time I came across them at my desk.  Sunshine comes in all different forms for us.  These two little ones are perfect examples of the best kind of happiness you can find.

We were able to squeeze in a sunny day shoot between storms and it was a perfect day.  Now, I can’t take all the credit for these smiles:  Julie and William are a couple of regulars at the studio and they actually make us laugh and giggle right along with them.  For them, they are just coming over to hang out and have fun.

It takes just a moment to capture these little faces, expressions and giggles, but they last forever.  William just turned One and Julie just turned Four, and I swear we just took their newborn pictures.

No Crying with these Kids

We have a pretty simple Easter Day with family… A little search for the baskets from Grandma and Papa that begins with a treasure hunt out of rhymes.  Then the usual hunt for eggs.  But I won’t bother showing you those images.  Let’s just get to the point.  The excitement that even has my two boys dropping their baskets full of candies and chocolates and run for their helmets.

The weather held out for the fourth year in a row and we are literally watching our own boys advance each year into more challenging off-road options.  Zach came home and even shared what his goal will be to ride next Easter.  Wow.  There isn’t even any room for the big kids to join in any more except of course, for Barry.  There is usually a cheer going on for each kid to have a ride with him on something.

I had to throw in a couple of extra images of the cousins for good laughs.  These kids came home wiped out and smiling from ear to ear.  A family day we desperately needed after running around endlessly with school, baseball, and work.  The cousins don’t get to hang out as often as they would love to with each other.

We hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break and Easter as much as we did.  A great chance to unwind and just enjoy the kids.

Change can be Great!

As many of you know, Barry and I remodeled our studio gallery space a couple of years ago to bring in more of our personality and photography style.  But if you look closely, we have done it again.  More changes.  There are even subtle changes in this image of the new direction taking place.

We’ll come back to this in a moment.  The changes I really want to share have to do with an entirely new expansion.  It couldn’t have come at a better time too.  Now, I know some of you have had the chance to see it for yourself and even during the  construction phase.  But I love showing it off just the same.

We finally did it.  We expanded the studio gallery to our upstairs space.  approximately 900 sq. feet of space.  More than I ever dreamed of having.  The perfect amount to give our studio families all the room they need to relax and prepare for their sessions and reviews.

So, why the addition?  Why not keep everything cozy in the original space?  Why change anything at all if it is working?

This is the cool part… Everything we do is about our customers.  How comfortable we can possibly make your experience from the consultation to the photo session, to the review, and even picking up your orders.

We had always been comfortable having everyone come into the house and make themselves at home.  But now we are able to really take it to the next level.  We have a full kitchen with a huge variety of refreshments including juices, waters, tea, sodas, etc.  Little ones are able to play on the amazing floor space with a selection of toys and puzzles.  We have a walk in closet for hanging outfits.  Our bathroom has a full size mirror and plenty of space for moving around and changing.  We even have a bedroom fully equipped with everything you need during those precious newborn sessions.  Blankets, hats, diapers, and all those little needed details in between.

We love change.  Barry and I enjoy challenging our senses and exploring new directions.  It is how we keep growing and improving our photography style and personal customer care.  We have always said our customers are our studio family.  There isn’t a better way than to give you that true feeling of being home.  We love seeing everyone just take a deep breath and relax as soon as they come up stairs.

Oh, and coming back to the first picture of our down stairs studio space… our brides and grooms have their own place to focus on just wedding details.  Now they do have the opportunity to enjoy the experience upstairs as well.  Especially for their engagement sessions.  We have even had a wonderful couple use our kitchen for their session while they prepared a dinner for each other.  That will be another blog coming to you shortly.  It was perfect!

I have to really thank our studio family.  Without your continuing returns and referrals to our little place in the country, we would never have dreamt of taking on this adventure.  My “Boys” (all three of them), are quickly learning that Mom now has her own get away spot.  Forget the Man Cave idea.

Giving from the Heart

Yes, we are officially into the “Giving Season”.  And yes, we know there are so many opportunities and options for giving back to the community including food drives, coat drives and toys drives.  We are always eager to help where ever we can.  But this year, we really wanted to take it a step further and include our studio family in supporting local families that are only asking for basic needs.  We are loving the fact that other kids besides our own boys are participating and learning about how big a family can truly be when they open their hearts.

Here are some of the items we would still like to add to our collection for our Adopt a Family for the Holidays.  The last day to drop your items off at the studio is Sunday, December 12th.  Please remember, the items can be very simple.  A sweater, a package of socks, a pair of sweats, etc.  We are not asking for large items or expensive clothing.  Just warmth.

Warm Clothes for a little boy age one (size 18 months), little girl age five (size 4t), little girl age one (size 2t).

Diapers and wipes sizes 4 and 5

Family Gift Cards for K-Mart, Ross and Pack & Save.  The cards can be simple amounts of $10, $15, etc.

Feel free to send us a personal email or call the studio directly and let us know how you can help out these two families.  Thank you for all the support we have been receiving already.  This has been an amazing experience already.  A little goes a LONG way if we all contribute.  And who doesn’t love to shop for little kids’ clothes?

Thank you for all the giving and support this holiday season.  We have the best studio family and friends around.

Rebecca, Barry, Zach and Sam

Where is your favorite playground?

What do you consider a playground?  I have to admit that my boys are pretty spoiled with our “little” ranchette.  They even have a playground that includes at least 6 over sized truck and tractor tires for climbing around.  But when I think of using your true imagination while at play as a kid… well, meet Ricki Lynn and Jackson.  Their horse, Bonnie, was a true love and wait until you see the tractors they get to climb on.

Talk about the world is your playground.  How cool is it for these kiddos to meet up with their Dad while he was harvesting rice?

Many of you know we are definitely not strangers to the rice fields.  We love the endless opportunities to explore the light, the textures, and just the energy it always brings to a session.  Especially when little ones are involved.  We would have never been able to get our boys out of there.  Seriously.  I almost couldn’t get Barry out.  He and Jack were racing and even a little game of hide and go seek with Ricki Lynn.  Only because she could hide very easily.

And yes, Dad took a moment from work to meet up for a quick picture.  We had the kids all warmed up and ready to go.  This is a memory they won’t forget.
