Part Two ~ Behind the Scenes

This is one blog I have been really, really excited to write.  A very long time coming since I have been seriously working on this idea for several years.  Yet, the idea is not new in any respect to that of innovation.  In fact, my Dad had this idea to share with our customers over 15 years ago.  But we all know where technology was back then.

I am going to ramble a tad bit and share a few more images of Amanda and Brian’s wedding.  I’m sure you won’t mind since they were truly an amazing couple and our Part Two is about them too.

With all the hustle and bustle going on preparing for the largest bridal show in the area, (Sunday morning) we are constantly reminded on how important the details are for planning a wedding.  Even going through Amanda and Brian’s images, I have been remembering all the details in working out their timelines, family photo combinations, etc.  All part of the relationship we build with our brides and grooms.  The relationship and personal care that enables us to capture everything they wanted and more.

But how do we show that ahead of time?  We have been extremely fortunate and blessed to have the amazing support and following of our earlier brides and grooms and their families.  They spread the word about us and even go into great detail and lengths to share their experiences with others.  We will be spoiled with that support again by having Amanda join us at the Bridal Showcase this Sunday, January 9th at Cal Expo.  She is an absolute delight and will be very helpful giving first had advice on what worked for her on planning her amazing wedding.

Well, we didn’t want to stop there.  It has always been so important to Barry and I that everyone feels how much we value creating a relaxed and comfortable experience on wedding day.  We want our couples to savor every moment of the journey and relive that memory through their images.  So with that in mind, we had an additional short film produced to show a little of the fun and interaction we have with everyone.

Visit our new short film and visit us at the Bridal Showcase.  We want to hear about your wedding plans and how we can personalize our services to you.

A Bright New Addition for the New Year!

This may appear like a typical blog about a fabulous wedding we typically shoot, but we have so much more to share.  We will of course, include a few favorite images.

We take a very personal role with each and every wedding we photograph.  To the point of explaining how important working relationships are in every detail from flowers, to cake, with the entertainment, food… You name it.  So, when this dear couple, Amanda and Brian came to our studio, there was no exception.  They were off to an incredible start with Melissa at Floral Creations and Joe with Sj’s Disc Jockey.

One of the best part of our relationships with our couples, is that the inspiration goes both ways.  Amanda and Brian wanted something they couldn’t find, and I, of course, had to figure a way to make it happen.  Don’t get me wrong.  We have been brainstorming this idea for some time on how to make it our own style and personal touch.  It just took the right couple and the talent of a great friend to help pull it all together.

Amanda and Brian’s wedding was at the Ryde Hotel with all the charm and features a photographer dreams about when capturing timeless moments for their couples.  And Amanda included a little spark of her own.

We find having some of our best moments of inspiration comes so naturally while working with amazing couples and extremely talented professionals.

Our newest addition to our Ford Family Photography studio services will be a short film of wedding day highlights.  We can’t begin to thank our very dear friend and cinematographer, Sam Harnack, for his talented creation.  We are very excited to be able to offer another personal and customized service for our customers.  Enjoy!

Giving from the Heart

Yes, we are officially into the “Giving Season”.  And yes, we know there are so many opportunities and options for giving back to the community including food drives, coat drives and toys drives.  We are always eager to help where ever we can.  But this year, we really wanted to take it a step further and include our studio family in supporting local families that are only asking for basic needs.  We are loving the fact that other kids besides our own boys are participating and learning about how big a family can truly be when they open their hearts.

Here are some of the items we would still like to add to our collection for our Adopt a Family for the Holidays.  The last day to drop your items off at the studio is Sunday, December 12th.  Please remember, the items can be very simple.  A sweater, a package of socks, a pair of sweats, etc.  We are not asking for large items or expensive clothing.  Just warmth.

Warm Clothes for a little boy age one (size 18 months), little girl age five (size 4t), little girl age one (size 2t).

Diapers and wipes sizes 4 and 5

Family Gift Cards for K-Mart, Ross and Pack & Save.  The cards can be simple amounts of $10, $15, etc.

Feel free to send us a personal email or call the studio directly and let us know how you can help out these two families.  Thank you for all the support we have been receiving already.  This has been an amazing experience already.  A little goes a LONG way if we all contribute.  And who doesn’t love to shop for little kids’ clothes?

Thank you for all the giving and support this holiday season.  We have the best studio family and friends around.

It’s Santa Paws Time Again

One week away!  Santa will be here to take pictures with you and your family.  And we mean fur family members too!

We can’t believe we are in our 5th year already supporting this incredible organization call AAARF.    The event this year is going to be bigger and better than ever including a bake sale, raffle, crafts and a variety of vendors supporting your pets and family.

Your family picture with Santa is $12 and includes a 5×7.  All proceeds go to AAARF to support their endless animal rescue efforts.  Their facility is amazing and the volunteers supporting this organization are even more incredible.  Every time we visit their facility, we are always blown away by how clean and inviting the surroundings are.   It is a true haven for these animals.

We have even added an additional hour since the support for this benefit continues to grow every year.  We look forward to seeing everyone next Sunday, November 14th from 10am to 3pm.

Families Helping Families

It’s Official!

Ford Family Photography and our amazing family of studio customers will be adopting two local families for the holidays.  All the official details are coming in as we speak.  But to start, here are some of the basic details for all of you “planners” that want to get a head start.

Family Blue (for two little boys, of course) have a 2-year-old boy and 1-year-old boy.  The primary request is for warm clothes and diapers.

Family Pink (girl power here) have a 5-year-old girl and a 1-year-old girl.  The primary request again is for warm clothes and diapers.

We will have tags for everyone to select specific items for toys, sizes, colors, etc.  Please feel free to contact us at the studio directly if you would like to start donating now.  Many of you will be coming through the studio for family sessions in the next couple of weeks and can select your tags then.  We will have tags for the Mom’s of the children as well.  We find that food gift cards are usually the necessity and most desirable.

Thank you for all the amazing support on this new adventure.  We have already been receiving so many calls and offers to help out these two families for the holidays.

It’s All About Weddings

It’s that time of year again.  Bridal Shows are popping up every where you look, and we are very excited to be participating at the Bridal Showcase this Sunday, August 15th from 11am to 4pm.

So, why bridal shows?  Aren’t they crazy busy and a bit over whelming?  My advice, select the shows that will offer you a variety of vendors to meet and greet and one that is very well established.  The experience is truly worth your time when you start to think about all the scheduling, phone calls, emails you can be saving yourself by meeting a diverse selection of professionals in one location.  What a great way to also include your family and friends along for support and feedback.

Don’t forget to eat before you come as well as stay hydrated to keep your energy up.  You will also want to wear very comfortable shoes.

Other helpful tips, bring along pre-printed labels with your wedding and contact information for attaching to sign up forms.  This will save you and your hands a great deal of writing.  Your mobile phones or even a small video camera can be a great tool for capturing design ideas and remembering favorite booths.  Which reminds me… We will be sure to capture your attention with our cool booth design.

We are here to help you through the planning process.  Bring note pads, sample clippings and anything you would like to share with us while you plan your wedding.  We want to hear all about the details.

Have a great time and we look forward to meeting you there!

Jen’s Dance with Summertime

We just took Jennifer’s senior model session yesterday and I couldn’t wait to post a couple of images.  She was an absolute dream.

Jen is a senior at Roseville High School and she loves to dance for Roseville High’s Dancin’ Feet’ which she has done every year and has advanced to TA for beginners.

Her favorite classes are Science, Photography, Creative Writing, and Dance (of course).  She is also very active in Roseville League Soccer playing both indoor and outdoor and she has been with the same team for 8 years. Working year round officiating soccer games, she is one of the few female youth referees who have worked with national referees and has had finals in the State Cup Tournament.

Jen’s pastimes include listening to music, hanging out with friends, shopping, and volunteering for Great Pyrenees rescue.

Thank you Jennifer for such a perfect time and we can wait to see you again soon.

Meet and Greet Monte Verde Style

This is an especially fun little blog for us.  We get to tease all the Monte Verde Inn Brides and Grooms out there with a couple images to get them ready for the amazing Open House and tasting this coming Saturday.

The Open House is truly an exciting event with every combination of food samples you can imagine including Kelly’s phenomenal cakes.  Not to mention that you get to check this amazing site out and fall in love with all the photo opportunities available.  Ok, maybe I am getting a little more excited for you since we know how spectacular your day will be.  (It doesn’t hurt to stir the imagination up a bit.)

The Open House is a perfect opportunity to meet and visit with great vendors including Joe with Sj’s Disc Jockey, Mike with Jensen Wedding FilmsO’Shays, and Shana Beals (Make Up Artist) for starters.  They all have amazing experiences with weddings and especially at the Monte Verde Inn.  So, bring your notes, your questions, your magazine clippings and share with us the wedding details that are inspiring you.  We are there to help all the planning ideas fall into place for you.  This is definitely not a time to be shy!

Just incredible… We couldn’t have asked for a better experience at the Bridal Showcase just yesterday at Cal Expo.   The show kicked off with a bang right from the beginning and we weren’t even able to get shots of the booth until just before we broke down to leave.  Now, that is busy!

Busy is only one way to describe the day.  I actually prefer to describe it a exhilarating!  We met so many incredible brides and grooms along with their family and friends.  We got to hear about all the amazing wedding plans and dreams including locations from Maui, Sedona, Tahoe, Napa, San Francisco and even the spectacular places right here in the Sacramento region.  From intimate celebrations of 25 guests to a week long celebration of three cultures.

If you came by our booth, tell us what your favorite feature was.  We are placing bets on the most popular attractions:  The Fine Art Album with Ostrich and Acrylic cover, Our Rusted Backdrop with 6 Amazing Art Wraps OR the Photo Curtain with 158 Images hanging from clips.  Please, do share!

Thank you, Thank you , Thank you again for such an amazing day and spending the time with us.  We can’t wait to hear from you all and learn more about your wedding dreams.  Happy Planning!

Happy New Year to Our 2010 Brides!

We truly wish everyone a Wonderful and Safe New Year.    A perfect time for new beginnings and great opportunities.

And with the New Year, everyone in the wedding industry is buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the upcoming bridal shows.  When I say upcoming, we are talking in the next two weeks!  And the Countdown begins!

Bridal Shows can be hectic, stressful and a bit overwhelming.   But we really want to encourage brides and grooms, family, wedding party and friends to jump in and check them out.  The shows are truly an incredible opportunity to save yourself time running around town and making appointments with a variety of services from caterers, florists, Dj’s and, yes, yours truly, photographers.  We are there to help answer questions, show samples of our work and just spend time with you learning about your wedding day plans.

So, mark your calendars and pass the word around to all your friends to join you at the Bridal Showcase on January 10, 2010.  This is the biggest show of the year at Cal Expo in Sacramento, California.  We can wait to see you there and show off our newest backdrop and specialty albums.  We really have a surprise for you!
